Journeys with no pebbls

Why tracking stops after 9 days of travel without a pebbl, and when a journey with no pebbls is deleted.

Why

Pebbls is for telling the story of a trip. The app records your route, and the pebbls you add tell people what happened: a photo and a few words, pinned where you were. A journey with only a route isn't what Pebbls is for.

When tracking stops

If a journey goes 9 days of travel without a new pebbl, tracking stops. Days when you don't move don't count. You get a notification after 5 and 7 days, and on the 9th day. Add a pebbl and tracking starts again. If you post regularly, a quiet patch won't stop it: the rule only applies when a journey has fewer than one pebbl for every 9 days.

When a journey with no pebbls is deleted

From 16 November 2026, when a journey that has never had a pebbl has had nothing added to it for 90 days, we email you and hide it from everyone but you. It's deleted 30 days after that, with a reminder 7 days before. Tap Keep my journey in the email, or add a pebbl, and it stays. A journey with even one pebbl is never deleted this way.

GPX imports

Chapters you import from a GPX file count the same. If you import a route from a trip, add a few pebbls with your photos from it and the journey stays.

Keeping a copy

You can download a copy of any journey. Either just the route, as a GPX file that mapping and GPS apps can open, or a full copy with your photos and videos. The full copy comes as one file, with a page inside that opens in any browser, even offline.
