Track your hike on a map

Pebbls draws your line as you walk and keeps it on your phone until you're back in signal. Add a photo and a few words at the top or at the campsite, and the people at home can follow every day from one link.

It keeps recording in the hills

No signal in the valley or on the tops, and your track is still saved on the phone. It goes up when you reach the next village or campsite with signal, and the line fills in on the map.

Easy on your data

Your track saves to your phone and uploads in the background. Set it to Wi-Fi only and it waits for the guesthouse wifi instead of your roaming allowance.

Family can follow from one link

Send one link and anyone can see how far you've got, no app or account needed. If they want a note each time you post, a free account takes a few seconds.

A film of every walk

Each chapter gets a short flyby film that follows your line over the hills, with your photos where you took them. They're free and you can share them anywhere.

Where these walks went

The lines are what their phones recorded on the way, and the photos sit where they were taken.

Using it on a long walk

A chapter a day

Start a new chapter each morning and the whole route sits on one map. Ruth walked from Lisbon to Santiago over 36 days, up the coast from Porto, with a chapter for most days and a film for most of those.

Or keep it in one

Greg put his ten days on the South West Coast Path into a single chapter: about 120 km on foot from Exmouth, past the red cliffs at Ladram Bay and a campsite above Beer, with buses and trains in between. It's up to you how you split it.

A day up a mountain

A day walk works the same way. Emily's Snowdon journey has the swim in the river by the campsite, the summit in cloud, the way down and the bus back to camp.

Pebbls made these from the routes and photos above. Pick one to watch it with sound.

Free, with no adverts

Tracking, photos and notes, your map and journal, flyby films and sharing all cost nothing. Family see your route fill in every few minutes when you have signal. If you want more, Explorer is $20 a year: your map keeps up with you as you walk, and you get private journeys and offline maps.

Questions

Does it work with no signal in the mountains?

Yes. It keeps recording on your phone with no signal at all and uploads when you're back in range. Photos wait on your phone until then too.

Will it drain my battery?

It uses GPS while you're tracking, like any walking app. On a long walk, charge your phone each night and carry a battery pack for the bigger days.

Do I need a GPS watch?

No. Pebbls uses your phone's own GPS, so the phone in your pocket is enough.

Do my family need the app to follow?

No. They open your link in any browser. A free account just means they get a note when you post.

Can I keep where I'm camping private?

With Explorer you can hold back your latest position until you've moved on, make a journey private or put a password on it. On the free plan your journeys are public, and you share them by link.

Is it free?

Yes, tracking, photos, maps and flyby films are free. Explorer is optional.
