How a partner hub works

How your hub works, for you and for your travellers. It’s short, and you can send any part of it to your guides.

While your hub is private

Your hub is set up as soon as you send the form, but it stays private until we’ve had a look. That usually takes less than 24 hours, sometimes a few days. Until then only you and we can see it, and it doesn’t show in the community lists or in search.

You don’t need to wait for us. Add your logo, colour and a few words about what you do in hub settings, and send the invite link to your next group. Trips they add now show on your map once the hub is public.

When it’s public we email you the code for your website, and it appears on your hub page too.

To apply you need a free Pebbls account. If you don’t have one yet, the form lets you make one first.

How travellers join

Send your travellers the invite link from our email. It doesn’t run out, so it can go in your booking confirmations or on your website.

They open the link and press Join Community.

If they aren’t signed in, they press Log in to Join, or Sign up if they’re new. A Pebbls account is free and only needs an email address.

Then they put the Pebbls app on their phone and sign in with the same account.

It’s easiest a few days before they leave, so the app is ready before the trip starts. Travellers never pay anything.

Keep using the same link. It keeps working even if someone makes a new invite link from your hub page, so the copies you’ve sent out never break.

Adding a trip to your hub

Joining the hub doesn’t put any trips on it. Each traveller adds their trip in the app, and can take it off again whenever they like.

When they start a journey, they tap “Description, communities, hide start and finish”, then “Add to community”, and pick your hub.

On a journey that’s already going, they tap JOURNEY at the top of the Record screen, then “Edit journey”. Under Communities they tap “Add to community”.

Or they tap Share on the map and choose Communities.

A journey can be in up to three communities. Only public journeys can be added, so the option isn’t there on a private journey or one with a password.

One phone for the whole group

Only one person needs to record. Usually that’s the guide or a group leader, on their own phone and their own Pebbls account. Everyone else can follow along like the families do.

The app records the route without signal. The route and photos go up when the phone is back online.

What families see

Each trip has its own page. Families open it in a web browser and watch the route grow on the map, with the photos and notes from each day. They don’t need the app or an account.

On the trip’s page they can press Follow and leave an email address. They get a short email on Sunday evenings with the week’s route and photos, only when there’s news. With a free account they can hear each time something new is added.

Your hub page has every trip from your groups on one map, so that’s a good link to send as well.

The map on your website

Once your hub is public, open your hub page and scroll to “Put your trips on your own website”. Press Copy and paste the code into your website where you want the map. It’s also in the email we send when the hub goes live.

Most website builders take code like this in a block called HTML, Code or Embed.

The map shows every public trip on your hub, and new ones appear on it by themselves. Under it there’s a link to your page on Pebbls. Please leave that in, it’s how visitors find the rest of your trips.

Your hub page and your groups’ public trips are pages Google can find, and each trip links back to your hub page, where your Book button is.

Privacy

Only the trips your travellers add to your hub show on it and on your map, and only if they’re public. Their other trips stay their own. Private journeys, journeys with a password and test journeys never show.

The trips belong to the travellers who made them. They can take a trip off your hub, or leave the hub, at any time, and the trip stays on their own profile. If your hub closes one day, their trips stay on Pebbls.
