Free GPX tools
Drop in a route file and it opens on a map with the climbs underneath. If the track's messy you can fix it, and if your watch wants a different format you can save it as one.
It all runs in your browser. Your files aren't uploaded and there's nothing to sign up for.
Questions people ask
How do I open a GPX file?
Drop it on this page or press Choose files. It opens on a map with the distance, the climb and a height profile. On a phone, pick it from Files or your downloads.
How do I get a GPX out of Strava, Garmin or Komoot?
- Strava On strava.com (not the app): open the activity, press the ··· menu, then Export GPX.
- Garmin Connect On connect.garmin.com: open the activity, press the cog, then Export to GPX.
- Komoot On komoot.com: open the tour, press the ··· menu, then Download GPX file.
- AllTrails On alltrails.com: open your recording, press the ··· menu, then Download route and choose GPX.
Can I edit a GPX file?
Yes, in the editor. Pick a stretch and delete or redraw it, pull a wobbly bit back onto the path, or draw a new route that follows footpaths. You can also cut a file in two.
What's the difference between GPX, KML and FIT?
GPX is the one most apps and watches read. KML comes from Google Earth and My Maps, and a KMZ is just a zipped KML. FIT is what Garmin and Wahoo devices record, with heart rate and the rest. If in doubt, save as GPX.
Which files will it open?
GPX, KML, KMZ, FIT, TCX and GeoJSON. A zip from Garmin Connect's Export Original opens as it is, so there's no need to unzip it.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Your browser reads them on your phone or computer and they stay there. If you reload the page the file is still open until you press Start again. The only time a route leaves your device is when you choose to make a 3D film of it.
Does it cost anything?
No. There's no account to make and no limit on how many files you open.
