Track your expedition on a map
For trips that run to months or years. Pebbls records the route on your phone, on the water or on land, and keeps your photos and notes where you took them. People at home follow from one link and see each new stretch when your phone next has signal.
It records where there's no signal
Mid-ocean or high in the mountains, the app keeps recording on your phone. When you're back in range it sends the lot, and the gap on the map fills in.
Set it up for a long trip
Pick how you're travelling and change it when you do: on board, on the bike, on foot or on a train. Battery saver stops recording while you're not moving, and uploads can wait for wifi so they stay off your roaming data.
People at home follow from one link
Send one link to family and sponsors and they can see the route so far with your photos and notes, no app or account needed. It isn't live while you're out of signal: they see each new stretch when your phone next connects.
A film of each chapter
Each chapter becomes a short flyby film over your route, with your photos along the way. They're free, and they're easy to send to the people who backed the trip.
Where these trips went
Each line is what a phone recorded along the way, and the photos sit where they were taken.
How members use it on long trips
A journey that runs for years
David's world trip started in September 2024 with a horse rescue on Tenerife. Since then he has hitchhiked across the Atlantic, travelled through South, Central and North America, and crossed the Pacific from Panama to Australia, all in one journey on one map.
Days with no signal
On a long passage the phone can be out of range for a week. It keeps recording, and the route goes up at the next harbour. Sæunn's boat has sailed from Finland to Spain over three seasons, by Norway and Scotland.
Writing it up as you go
Add a few photos and a note at the end of the day, or when you next have a minute. Harry's 48 days riding from Istanbul to Ashby have over 200 pebbls, so his journal reads like a diary of the ride.

What it costs
Tracking, photos and notes, your map and journal, flyby films and sharing are free, with no adverts. Explorer is £20, €20 or $20 a year if you want more: your map keeps up with you faster, journeys can be private, you get offline maps for the stretches with no signal, and you can hold back where you're sleeping until you've moved on.
Questions
Can people follow my expedition live?
Yes, while you have signal. When you don't, the app keeps recording and your route catches up on the map once you're back in range.
Is it a satellite tracker?
No. Pebbls is an app on your phone. It has no SOS button and can't send your position from somewhere with no mobile signal or wifi. Lots of people carry a satellite messenger such as a Garmin inReach for safety and use Pebbls for the story of the trip.
Will it cope with a trip that lasts years?
Yes. Adam and Olivia have tracked their boat from Guernsey to New Zealand since 2023 in one journey, with a chapter for each passage.
What about battery on long days?
Tracking uses GPS like any route app. Battery saver pauses recording while you're stopped, and a battery pack or solar panel covers the rest.
Can I keep my position private?
With Explorer you can hold back your latest position until you've moved on, make a journey private or put a password on it. On the free plan journeys are public and you share them by link.
Can I keep a journal as well as the map?
Yes. Every pebbl can have photos and a note, and the journal page shows them day by day next to the map. Explorer adds videos.
Is it free?
Yes. Tracking, photos, the map, the journal and flyby films are free. Explorer is optional.
