Check-in plan for long trips
For a long walk, a bike tour, weeks on the water or an expedition. Set how often you'll check in, and give the person keeping an eye out a worry time for each one and the steps to take.
Nothing is uploaded. The plan is written into the link itself, and the draft stays in this browser.
Pebbls isn't an emergency service and can't send help. In an emergency, call the local emergency number.
Check-ins, not one return time
On a day out there's one time to worry. On a long trip there's a check-in every evening, or every few days, and each one has its own worry time. Your contact sees the next one at the top, ticks it off when you've been in touch, and can see straight away if one is missed.
Leave room for no signal
Phones die and signal comes and goes, so a missed check-in isn't an emergency on its own. Give each one a worry time later than you'd think, and write in the notes what you'll do if you can't get through. If you carry a satellite messenger, put it on the plan.
No end date yet
Leave the back date empty and the check-ins carry on at the same rhythm. When your plans change, send a new link: the old one won't change with them.
Questions people ask
Can my contact see where I am?
Not from the plan. If you track the trip with the Pebbls app, you can add your live map to the plan, and they can follow it from there.
What do they do if I miss a check-in?
Try to reach you and everyone with you first. If they still can't, they call the emergency number for the country you're in and say you're overdue. The plan has the number, and the answers they'll be asked.
Does Pebbls send anything if I miss one?
No. Pebbls doesn't watch the clock or contact anyone. The reminders go in your contact's own calendar.
