KML to GPX
Turn a KML from Google Earth or My Maps into a GPX that your watch or walking app can open. KML files from sailing apps work too.
Your files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
How to change KML to GPX
- Drop the KML here or choose it. A KMZ works too.
- Check the route on the map, then press Save as GPX. It goes to your downloads.
What comes across
Each line in the KML becomes a track, and each named place becomes a waypoint with its name. My Maps writes a height of 0 for every point, so we leave heights out rather than give your watch a route at sea level.
Questions
How do I get a KML out of Google My Maps?
Open the map, press the three dots by its name and choose Export to KML/KMZ. Tick the box for a .KML file, or leave it as a KMZ, which opens here too.
Does it keep times?
If the KML has them, yes. Tracks recorded in Google Earth do. Most KML files from planning tools don't.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Your browser converts it on your device. Nothing leaves it unless you press the button to make a film.
