GPX to KML
Turn a GPX into a KML you can open in Google Earth or import into My Maps, to plan a trip or show someone where you went.
Your files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
How to change GPX to KML
- Drop the GPX here or choose it. FIT, TCX and GeoJSON files work too.
- Check it on the map, then press Save as KML. It goes to your downloads.
What comes across
The line keeps its heights and named points keep their names. Times don't come across, because the KML we save is a plain line, which is what Google Earth and My Maps both read. If you need the times, keep the GPX as well.
Questions
How do I open it in Google My Maps?
Make a new map, press Import under the first layer and choose the KML file.
How do I open it in Google Earth?
In Google Earth Pro, choose File then Open. In Google Earth in the browser, start a new project and import the KML into it.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Your browser converts it on your device. Nothing leaves it unless you press the button to make a film.
