Find the nearest garage
For the warning light on a back road or the tyre that keeps going down. It finds garages, tyre places and motorhome workshops near you or along your route, and says which are open.
Which garages it finds
Garages that do repairs, tyre places, workshops that take motorhomes and caravans, motorbike garages and car parts shops. Every result says which it is, so you’re not taking a campervan to a motorbike workshop.
Open now, a phone number and the way there
Where the opening hours are on the map you’ll see whether a garage is open now and when it closes. The Call button rings them and Directions opens your phone’s maps app with the way by road.
Before a long drive
Load the route and it lists the garages within a few kilometres of it in the order you’ll pass them. On a long road trip it shows where the gaps are before you need one.
Where the garages come from
OpenStreetMap, which volunteers keep up to date. Towns are well covered and quiet roads less so. If a garage has gone or one is missing, add a note on OpenStreetMap from the link under the list.
Questions people ask
Does it find garages that work on motorhomes?
Yes. Places mapped as motorhome and caravan dealers or workshops are listed with the others and marked as such. Not every garage can take a big van, so ring first.
Can it find other things too?
Yes. Tap More above the results to add drinking water, food shops, toilets, showers, cash machines, campsites and the rest. It’s one tool, called Places you’ll need.
Will it get me breakdown help?
No. It finds garages on the map. If you’ve broken down on a fast road, ring your breakdown service or the emergency number first.
How far does it look?
5 km around you first, then 15 km, then 40 km, until it has five garages to choose from.
Are the distances by road?
No, they’re in a straight line, or along your route and then straight to the garage. The Directions button works out the way by road in your maps app.
How up to date is it?
Pebbls keeps its own copy of OpenStreetMap and refreshes it every week, which is why answers come back quickly. Anything added to the map today shows here within a week or so.
Does it use my location?
Only if you press Use my location and say yes when your browser asks. A rounded version, to about 100 metres, goes to Pebbls’ server. It’s only used for that search.
These places come from OpenStreetMap, a map that volunteers keep up to date. Our copy of it is refreshed every week. Some will be out of date, so ring before you go out of your way.
