Gear list
What your pack weighs, item by item, with typical weights to start from.
One store of gear, as many lists as you like
Add a tent once, with its weight, and use it in your weekend list and your list for a fortnight. Change the weight and every list that has it follows. Mark what you wear and what gets used up, and the base weight is worked out for you.
If you've used LighterPack, export your list there as a CSV and open the file here. The weights, quantities and the worn and consumable marks come across.
Notes that build up
Every item has its own notes over time: when you bought it, the distance it's done, and what happened along the way. "Chain changed at 3,200 km." "Leaked in heavy rain on day two." Next time you're choosing what to take, it's all there.
Yours to keep
Your gear and lists are kept in this browser, and with your Pebbls account if you sign in. You can also save everything as a file and open it on another computer. A read-only link lets you share a list without sending your notes.
Questions people ask
What is base weight?
Everything in your pack, less what you're wearing and what gets used up, like food, water and fuel. It's the number to compare between trips, because it doesn't change with how much food you set off with.
Where do the typical weights come from?
They're typical figures for mid-range gear of each kind, checked against the weights several makers publish. Your own things may be lighter or heavier, so weigh them if you can. A typical weight has a ~ in front of it until you type your own, and the totals say about until then.
Is this a LighterPack alternative?
It does the same main job: weigh your gear, group it by category and see where the weight goes. It also keeps distance and repair notes for each item. Your lists are kept in this browser, and with your Pebbls account if you sign in, and you can bring a LighterPack list in from its CSV export.
How do I move my lists from LighterPack?
In LighterPack, open a list and choose Export to CSV. Here, choose Open a file and pick that CSV. It comes in as a new list, and its things go into My kit, joined to anything there with the same name and group.
Can I share my gear list?
Yes, as a link that opens with the weights and the chart. Your notes and distances aren't included. Very long lists are too big for a link, so save those as a CSV and send the file.
Can I switch between grams and ounces?
Yes. The switch above the totals changes every weight on the page. You can type a weight in either, for example 350 g, 1.2 kg or 12 oz.
Where's my gear kept?
In this browser, and with your Pebbls account if you sign in. Clearing your browser's data deletes the browser's copy. You can also save everything as a file, as a spare copy or to move it to another computer.
Can I tick it off as I pack?
Yes. Every list has Pack and Weigh at the top. Weigh is where the weights are, and Pack is the same list as a checklist to tick off as things go in the bag.
