Turn your Ride with GPS ride into a 3D video

Make a 3D video of a ride you recorded or a route you planned in Ride with GPS, with your photos in it, then save it and share it. The free film covers 200 km, which is a long day on a bike. Ride with GPS offers a lot of file types, and we’ll show you which one to pick.

Why make a film of a ride?

Ride with GPS is very good at planning a route and getting you round it. A film is for afterwards, and for the people at home. The hills stand up in 3D and your photos sit where they belong. It’s about a minute long, so people watch it to the end.

Tips for a better film from Ride with GPS

Film the tour before you go

Export the planned route and send the film to whoever is riding with you. Make the one with photos when you’re home.

Long tours

A tour of several days is often one route. The free film stops at 200 km, so pick a stretch, or make a Premium film of up to 2,000 km.

Ferries and trains

Mark those stretches in the editor and the film shows a boat or a train there instead of a bike.

Cafés and campsites

The points of interest you saved are good places for moments. They’re usually where the photos are.

Three steps, a few minutes

Add your route

Upload a GPX from your watch, bike computer or app, or trace it on the map. It follows roads and paths, or goes straight across water.

Add moments

A name, a line or two and up to three photos at each place that mattered. The film slows down and shows them.

Get your film

We make it and email you the link. Download it, post it, send it to everyone who came along.

Questions

How do I export a GPX from Ride with GPS?

On ridewithgps.com, open the ride or route, choose More, then Export as file, pick GPX Track and download it. In the app, a route’s three-dot menu has Export GPX.

Should I use GPX Track or GPX Route?

GPX Track. A GPX Route only holds the cue points, and the film would cut straight between them.

Can I make a film of a route I haven’t ridden yet?

Yes. A planned route works just like a recorded ride. Make a preview now and another with your photos after the trip.

What about TCX or FIT files?

They won’t load here. Route to video reads GPX only, and GPX Track is in the same Export as file list.
