Turn your Polar session into a 3D video
Make a 3D video of a run or a ride you recorded on your Polar watch, with your photos in it, then save it and share it. It’s free up to 200 km. The file comes from the Polar Flow website, and it takes a minute.
Get your route file from Polar Flow
It’s called a GPX file. Use the Polar Flow website on a computer. Polar’s help only explains the export there.
flow.polar.com › Diary › Your session › Export › GPX
- Sign in at flow.polar.com and go to Diary.
- Click the training session to open it.
- Open the Export drop-down at the top right and choose the GPX file. It goes to your downloads folder.
- If you pick the zip package, unzip it first. We need the GPX file itself.
- The GPX holds the route. Heart rate and cadence go in the other formats, and the film doesn’t need them.
- A session recorded without GPS has no route, so there’s nothing to fly along.
Why make a film of a session?
Polar Flow is for looking back at your training. A film is for showing someone else where you went. The camera flies along your route over 3D terrain and slows down where you took your photos. It’s about a minute long, so people watch it to the end.
Tips for a better film from Polar
Check how you travelled
We guess walking, cycling or driving from the times in the file. A quick run can come up as cycling, so change it to Running if it does.
Multisport sessions
Polar exports these as GPX too. Upload the file, check the line on the map, then set how you travelled for each part.
Your photos
Add a moment at each place that mattered and pick up to three photos for it from your phone or computer.
Longer trips
The free film stops at 200 km. For a tour of several days, pick a stretch, or make a Premium film of up to 2,000 km.
Three steps, a few minutes
Add your route
Upload a GPX from your watch, bike computer or app, or trace it on the map. It follows roads and paths, or goes straight across water.
Add moments
A name, a line or two and up to three photos at each place that mattered. The film slows down and shows them.
Get your film
We make it and email you the link. Download it, post it, send it to everyone who came along.
Questions
How do I export a GPX file from Polar Flow?
On the Polar Flow website, go to Diary, click the session, then choose the GPX file from the Export drop-down at the top right.
Can I do it in the Polar Flow app?
Polar’s help only describes the export on the website, so use that. Once you have the file, you can upload it from any browser.
I downloaded a zip. Will that work?
Not as it is. Unzip it and upload the GPX file inside.
Do multisport sessions work?
Polar exports multisport sessions as GPX, so you can upload one like any other. Check the line on the map, then set how you travelled for each part.
