Pebbls Update: 26 Feb 2024

It’s been a busy couple of weeks at Pebbls since my last update. While I’ve hit a few snags, mainly with the anticipated Expo 50 (mobile app framework) upgrade, I’ve continued with developing improvements and working on upcoming features for the app and wider platform. Here’s what’s been happening:

Continued Enhancements to the Adventure Map Interface

The Adventure Map interface has received further enhancements, focusing on usability and aesthetics. These improvements are part of an ongoing plan to transition all journey maps to a single interface in the near future. The idea is that from this single map interface you can browse journeys from all around the world in an immersive and enjoyable way.

Email Notifications

You can now opt to receive email notifications when a user you follow places a Pebbl or covers some significant distance on their journey.

Technical Tweaks and Bug Hunting

I’m tweaking all kind of things and fixing bugs on a daily basis – leading to smoother, more reliable experiences across the app and web platform. If you spot something that you think I’ve missed please get in touch.

Upcoming: Improved Background Uploads on iOS

I’m excited to announce that I’m on the verge of rolling out long-awaited improvements to background uploads for iOS users. This update aims to make sharing your Pebbls more seamless, even when you’re on on the move and have patchy internet connection. Expect this enhancement to be live within the next week!

Expo 50 Upgrade: A Work in Progress

The upgrade to Expo 50 is taking a bit longer than anticipated. I’m working hard to ensure that this transition will be smooth and brings the expected performance and stability improvements to Pebbls. I’ll be pushing out this update as soon as possible.
