Sailing New Zealand | Opua & Russel
After a week or so of marina luxuries at Bay of Islands Marina in Opua (hot showers! a free courtesy car!), we've finally slipped our lines and headed back out. The car let us explore further inland, and we found some stunning waterfalls along the way, including Haruru Falls and Rainbow Falls.
We've left with a slightly grumpy gearbox, but it should hold up for now, so we've made the short 4-mile hop across to Russell. It's a lovely little town full of great coffee spots, with walks over the headland to some beautiful beaches.
Funnily enough, this whole area reminds us a lot of home, from the lay of the land to the weather. So far, we're loving New Zealand.
