August 2024 Update: 100,000km of Adventure!
Pebbls Around the World
It’s been truly exciting to see Pebbls being used by adventurers around the globe. So far, Pebbls has tracked more than 100,000km of journeys in over 25 countries. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see where Pebbls takes you next!
New Features to Explore
There have been a few exciting developments in the Pebbls ecosystem since my last post. It’s been a busy couple of months.
- Reactions and Comments on Pebbls: Now, you can leave reactions and comments directly on individual Pebbls within the adventure maps. This makes it easier to interact with specific moments as they happen.
- Elevation Chart Enhancements: I’ve updated the elevation charts to show not just individual legs of your journey, but the entire adventure as a whole. This gives you a better overview of your travels.
- Activity Page Improvements: The activity page for each user has been streamlined to allow you to see a feed of what a particular user has been up to recently. You can find this in the ‘Explorers‘ section.
- Bug Fixes and Performance Tweaks: Behind the scenes, I’ve been working to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible, thanks in large part to the feedback you’ve been sending in from your adventures.
Our Hebridean Adventure
Since creating Pebbls, my holidays have turned into perfect opportunities to field-test the latest app updates. A few weeks ago, Lucy and I took the Caledonian Sleeper train to Scotland and spent a couple of weeks exploring the west coast and the Outer Hebrides. It had been over a year since our last long cycle trip, and it was amazing to be back on the bikes, sleeping under the stars again and putting Pebbls through its paces.
Exciting Partnerships Coming Soon
Recently, I’ve been shifting my focus slightly away from just coding and feature development to explore partnerships and connections. The goal is to spread the word about Pebbls and bring in more inspirational adventurers to share their stories. I’ve made some exciting progress, and while I can’t share all the details just yet, these collaborations are going to add a lot of value to the Pebbls community. Stay tuned for more!
What’s Next?
I’m currently working on a feature that will let you link your external blog articles directly to Pebbls, making it easier to share your stories across different platforms. I’ll also soon be posting regular Journey Showcase posts, highlighting some of the amazing adventures that Pebbls users are undertaking. I hope these inspire even more incredible journeys!
